Governor Walz proclaims November as Month of the Military Family

November 1, 2019 (ST. PAUL, Minnesota) – Nearly 1,000 Minnesota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are deployed this month. Service men and women rely on their families for strength and support during deployment. Today, Governor Tim Walz proclaimed November Month of the Military Family to salute and celebrate the extraordinary military families whose selfless service and sacrifice make our military the finest in the world.

How can you get involved in Month of the Military Family?  Reach out to a neighbor, a church member, a co-worker, or an acquaintance whose family member is deployed.  Connect with the Yellow Ribbon Network within your community or company, there are more than 300 networks in place state-wide.  If you’re not connected to a military family, visit the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon website and click on the make a difference button to get started.

Military family month was first celebrated in 1993. The following year, President Clinton issued a presidential proclamation establishing Nation Military Families Recognition Day. Subsequent presidents and governors have issued proclamations designating November as Military Family Month.
