Archery Deer Hunting at Camp Ripley

Archery hunting for white-tailed deer is open to the public at Camp Ripley throughout the States archery season. Hunters must register for an account through iSportsman, purchase an installation hunting permit and a State hunting license prior to entering the installation.

Visit iSportsman for specific rules and to purchase your installation hunting permit and DNR Licenses to purchase your State hunting license (Code 213, resident; Code 223 Non-resident). Camp Ripley is in deer permit area 248.

Service member Hunt Opportunities

Hunting opportunities for currently-serving or retired members of the military are available at both Camp Ripley and the Arden Hills Army Training Site (AHATS). These opportunities are for deer or turkeys and take place during the normal state season for the species. Hunters must register for an account through iSportsman, acquire an installation hunting permit, and a State hunting license prior to entering the installation. Fishing at Camp Ripley

Camp Ripley is open to fishing to the following groups:

1) Current military members in possession of a valid Military Identification Card or retired military members in possession of appropriate identification and their guests.

2) Civilian employees of the Department of Military Affairs (DMA) and their guests.

3) Residents on military leave. A resident that is in the armed forces of the United States, stationed outside of the state, and in the state on leave, may hunt and fish without a license if the resident possesses official military leave papers during the regulated seasons. The resident must obtain the seals, tags, and coupons required of a licensee, which must be furnished without charge.

4) Non-resident military personnel. A nonresident who is in the military and in training at Camp Ripley may obtain a resident license to take fish.

5) Non-residents stationed in the state. The DNR Commissioner may issue a resident license to take fish or game to a person in the armed forces of the United States that is stationed in the state.

Disabled Veterans' Deer Hunt

The Disabled Veterans Deer hunt takes place annually during the second week of October and runs concurrently with the Service Member Archery Hunt. Hunters are partnered with a volunteer, placed in mobile blinds throughout Camp and allowed to use shotguns with slugs. Meals and lodging are provided to the hunters.

The Disabled Veterans Turkey Hunt takes place annually during the C or D turkey season. Hunters are partnered with a volunteer and placed in mobile blinds throughout Camp. Meals and lodging are provided to the hunters.

Trolling for Troops

Your opportunity to get a chance to fish with some of the best anglers in the Midwest! Anglers like the National Guard Professional Angling team, well known professional fishermen and others will guide a Disabled Vet and a recently Deployed MN National Guard Soldier or Airmen for a day on Mille Lacs Lake or the Mississippi River!
