MEDIA RELEASE: For Immediate Release

February 29, 2024

MOUNDS VIEW, Minn. – Saturday, the Minnesota National Guard will celebrate its 10th

annual Women’s Leadership Forum to provide attendees with mentorship and resources during this Medtronic-hosted event.

“The Minnesota National Guard strives to be the standard-bearer in recognizing and lifting up the women who serve in its ranks,” said Army Maj. Gen. Johanna Clyborne, Minnesota National Guard’s Assistant Adjutant General. “In its tenth year, the Women’s Leadership Forum seeks to ensure everyone has the tools necessary to thrive as leaders and to remove barriers to success.

One of the ways we do this is by bringing information and resources to the women and men who serve our state and nation through dialogue and a chance to learn from each other.”

This year’s theme is Women in the Community. Brig. Gen. Gordana Garašić, from the Croatian Armed Forces, will deliver the keynote address. The Minnesota National Guard has partnered with Croatia’s military for more than 28 years through the National Guard Bureau’s State Partnership Program. This forum is the first time for Croatia’s participation. Breakout sessions throughout the day will focus on career progression, communication, mentorship, and community connection. More than 300 Minnesota National Guard Soldiers and Airmen will attend. In 2011, women comprised nearly eight percent of the Minnesota Guard’s formation. Today, women are twenty-two percent of the force.

“Medtronic is honored to host the Minnesota National Guard Women’s Leadership Forum,” said Dave Wagner, Medtronic’s Vice President of Operations Innovation. “It’s a great opportunity to bring together two mission-driven organizations committed to developing strong, diverse leadership to navigate tomorrow’s challenges and opportunities.”
