Women’s Leadership Forum aims to educate, empower service members
September 5, 2019 (RICHFIELD, Minnesota) — The Minnesota National Guard will host its 5th annual Women’s Leadership Forum Saturday, September 7, at the Best Buy Corporate Headquarters in Richfield. The goal of the event is to empower women leaders within the organization and provide education to all who lead and mentor women Soldiers and Airmen.
“The Women’s Leadership Forum promotes a culture that encourages career and life success for Soldiers and Airmen in the Minnesota National Guard,” said Capt. Chloee Carlson, the event organizer. “This year’s theme, ‘Breaking the Mold,’ will empower women in our organization to network, mentor, and lead each other into positions of greater responsibility.”
The event will begin at 8 a.m. with remarks from Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen and a keynote address by Corie Barry, CEO of Minnesota-based Best Buy Inc. Breakout sessions throughout the day will focus on career development, communication, retention, and critical thinking.
Currently, women make up nearly 20 percent of the Minnesota National Guard and are able to serve in all positions in the organization.
