148th Fighter Wing conducts night flying in Northern Minnesota

The 148th Fighter Wing will conduct night flying October 25 through November 4, 2021. The 148th will be integrating with Special Operations Forces to conduct effective and realistic Close Air Support (CAS) training. CAS is the direct support of ground forces by air assets such as the 148th Fighter Wing’s F-16CM fighter aircraft. During CAS, Joint Terminal Air Controllers (JTACs) or Forward Air Controllers (FACs) communicate with air assets as a way to protect friendly ground forces. Residents near the 148th Fighter Wing and in Northern Minnesota may hear aircraft taking off, flying and landing. All jets will be on the ground by 10:00pm.
