Greg Ninerd Riewer was born the son of Richard and Janice (Aasness) Riewer on June 12, 1978 in Detroit Lakes, MN. He was raised in Frazee, graduating from Frazee High School in 1997. He enlisted into the United States Army National Guard in August of 1997. Greg then attended Minnesota State Community and Technical College, Moorhead, MN, studying computer programming. Greg received his basic training and advance individual training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri in 1997. He was deployed to Bosnia in September 2003 and returned in April 2004. In October 2005, Greg volunteered to join his friend’s and fellow soldiers of Alpha Co. 2/136 Combined Arms Battalion out of Detroit Lakes for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Greg spent six months in Camp Shelby, Mississippi for training and served one year at Camp Al Taqaddum, Iraq.
