Seven National Guard Honorees to be Welcomed into Court of Honor
October 2, 2019 (CAMP RIPLEY, Minnesota) – Seven former service members will be inducted into the Minnesota National Guard Court of Honor during a ceremony on Camp Ripley, October 6, 2019.
Individuals who have distinguished themselves during their military service and within their communities have been memorialized at Camp Ripley since 1933. These memorializations are often inscribed on roadways, buildings, and training areas as an honor to those who have served with such accreditation.
In more recent years, the names of the memorialized individuals are inscribed in the Court of Honor, an outdoor monument plaza located within the grounds of the Minnesota Military Museum on Camp Ripley.
This year’s honorees include Maj. Gen. (Ret) Gerald E. Lang of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) April M. Corniea of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) Wayne M. Hayes of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; Col. (Ret) Eric D. Kerska of Rochester, Minnesota; Col (Bvt) (Ret) Warren G. Herreid of Minnetrista, Minnesota; Chief Warrant Officer 5 (Ret) Ronald L. Peterson of Edina, Minnesota; Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret) Curtis S. Jasper of Oak Grove, Minnesota; Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret) Cynthia A. Kallberg of Azle, Texas.
“The Court of Honor is an inspirational achievement for everyone in the Minnesota National Guard – young and old, enlisted or commissioned,” said Col. Brian Melton. Camp Ripley Garrison Commander. “The exceptional example of service each inductee embodies has motivated us all for several decades and will well into the future.”
The public is invited to attend this ceremony, which starts at 1 p.m. at the Recreation Center, just across from the large education center building on Camp Ripley. An unveiling ceremony will begin at 3:45 p.m. at the Minnesota Military Museum along Infantry Road.
