Wosika was assigned to B Company, 2nd Combined Arms Battalion, 136th Infantry, based in Crookston.  On Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at approximately 3 p.m. Iraq time, while traveling on a foot patrol mission near Fallujah, Iraq, an explosive device detonated nearby.
