Minnesota National Guard to conduct media availability on sexual assault programs

June 17, 2019 (CAMP RIPLEY, Minnesota) — The Minnesota National Guard is hosting a media availability with Minnesota National Guard Adjutant General, Maj. Gen. Jon Jensen, the Minnesota National Guard’s sexual assault response coordinator and staff judge advocate at the Education Center at Camp Ripley, 15000 Hwy 115, Little Falls, MN 56345, Friday June 21, at 1 p.m. to provide sexual assault data, a statement and an opportunity to answer questions from the media regarding sexual assault in the Minnesota National Guard. 

This availability will follow a Sexual Assault Stand-down event for all Camp Ripley full-time members of the Minnesota National Guard, which is not open to the media.

Approximately 500 soldiers, airmen and civilian employees of the Minnesota National Guard will gather for a two-hour sexual assault stand-down.  The Adjutant General, Major General Jon Jensen will address the full-time staff to discuss the organization’s sexual assault data from the past five years and provide his plan on how to improve prevention and response programs.  National Guard professionals who work with victims and conduct investigations will speak and be available to answer questions from the work-force.  Additionally, a survivor of sexual assault from the Minnesota National Guard will speak about her experience.

A town hall event will follow, where service members and staff will be able to ask questions. 

This event is the second in a series of events across the state that began in April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
