Clyborne to be promoted as Minnesota National Guard first female two-star general

September 5, 2019 (ST. PAUL, Minnesota) – Brig. Gen. Johanna Clyborne will be promoted to the rank of major general during a promotion ceremony Saturday, September 7, in St. Paul.

Clyborne, who currently serves as the Deputy Adjutant General of the Minnesota National Guard, is a partner at the Shakopee-based law firm Brekke, Clyborne & Ribich LLC. She formerly served as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Minnesota.

Clyborne joined the National Guard in 1989 as a Technical Drafting Specialist and commissioned in 1992 after graduating from Officer Candidate School. She served in the Missouri, Texas and California National Guard prior to joining the Minnesota National Guard in 2002.
